Hi I am a new user and I am trying to input coordinates for the fishery area boundaries (5.2.2 Fishery area characteristics). I am inputting longitude coordinates that straddle the time line and experience problems when trying to input for example Min.Lon. 170, Max.Lon -171. My grid disappears. If, however, I input Min.Lon. 170 and Max.Lon 189 it works and I get the area of grids covered I want. The problem then is that when I try to define the cells in the next command (5.2.3 Cells), ISIS doesn’t let me click on any of the cells beyond lon 180. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks Viktoria Viktoria Kahui │ Post Doktor Dept of Economics │NFH University of Tromsø │ 9037Tromsø│Norway Tel. +47 776 46386

Thanks for your reply. I am working on a case study on the east coast of New Zealand. I agree that the coordinates should be between -180 and 180, the problem is when I type Long min -171 and Long max 170 ISIS takes the area to the left of New Zealand all around the world. If I swap it and type Long min 170 and Long max -171 (which should be the right way to do it) then ISIS does not recognise this. I think there might be a problem with defining an area that stretches ACROSS the -180 longitude line. Maybe a programming error? Hi again, if your point was to create an area in New zealand or somewhere faraway there, it is apparently impossible to pass beyond the 180 frontiere. We will ask for this problem. Can't you start in a first time by ending your area at 180? Cheers, Youen Viktoria Kahui a e'crit:
Hi
I am a new user and I am trying to input coordinates for the fishery area boundaries (5.2.2 Fishery area characteristics). I am inputting longitude coordinates that straddle the time line and experience problems when trying to input for example Min.Lon. 170, Max.Lon -171. My grid disappears. If, however, I input Min.Lon. 170 and Max.Lon 189 it works and I get the area of grids covered I want. The problem then is that when I try to define the cells in the next command (5.2.3 Cells), ISIS doesnt let me click on any of the cells beyond lon 180.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks Viktoria

I thought it might be a problem with the 180 frontiere. Unfortunately the fishery I work on (orange roughy) is mostly caught exactly across this frontiere, it would not make much sense to stop at the 180 line. But I will do so 'for exercise' anyway. Let me know when or if you can fix this problem, I think it might be important for future users who look at fisheries worldwide. Thanks for your help.
