Thanks for testing it out for me!! It is good to know that the simulations will work. I am sure you will hear of me again :) Viktoria Viktoria Kahui │ Post Doktor Dept of Economics │NFH University of Tromsø │ 9037Tromsø│Norway Tel. +47 776 46386 -----Original Message----- From: isis-fish-user-bounces@lists.labs.libre-entreprise.org [mailto:isis-fish-user-bounces@lists.labs.libre-entreprise.org] On Behalf Of Sigrid LEHUTA Sent: 17. august 2007 09:58 To: Liste pour les utilisateurs du simulateur Subject: Re: [Isis-fish-user] coordinates Hi Viktoria, I tried simple simulations with an area beyond 180 and fortunately it seems to work :-) Sorry for the difficulty with area definition, I hope you will succeed with your case study in spite of this complication. Hi Thanks, that sounds right. I am currently working with min:170 and max:190, but as you point out, it is much harder to select single cells (especially when defining zones) and I haven't progressed far enough yet to see whether simple simulations will work. I will report back when I get there!

Hi everybody !
Actually Dominique is right I input min : 170 and max : 190 and it selected the area across the time line, but the problem you raised in your first mail remains, there is no way to click on cells beyond 180... However creating zones that contain cells beyond 180 seems possible using the list on the left side. they do not appear in green so you can not visualise it but it seems there are working as any others (but I would check that with simples simulations before continuing...)
best regards,
Sigrid

Dear Viktoria,
Have you tried to input longitudes modulo 360°, since -180=360 ? Does the map allow for that ? Dominique

Thanks for your reply. I am working on a case study on the east coast of New Zealand. I agree that the coordinates should be between -180 and 180, the problem is when I type Long min -171 and Long max 170 ISIS takes the area to the left of New Zealand all around the world. If I swap it and type Long min 170 and Long max -171 (which should be the right way to do it) then ISIS does not recognise this. I think there might be a problem with defining an area that stretches ACROSS the -180 longitude line. Maybe a programming error?
Thanks Viktoria

Hi Viktoria,
I don't know which case study you are working on but longitude must be defined between -180 to 180. And you should restrict the area to your case study boundaries.
I Hope you will succeed in creating your case study area,
Cheers,
Youen

Hi
I am a new user and I am trying to input coordinates for the fishery area boundaries (5.2.2 Fishery area characteristics). I am inputting longitude coordinates that straddle the time line and experience problems when trying to input for example Min.Lon. 170, Max.Lon -171. My grid disappears. If, however, I input Min.Lon. 170 and Max.Lon 189 it works and I get the area of grids covered I want. The problem then is that when I try to define the cells in the next command (5.2.3 Cells), ISIS doesn¡¯t let me click on any of the cells beyond lon 180.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks Viktoria
